Crafty Kids - Explosive Pillowcases
This week the kids made their very own superhero style pillow cases using a stencil technique. It proved to be a little challenging but the results were fantastic. We used good old coverseal for our stencils which meant we could cut out our shapes, stick it down and it wouldn't move when painting.
First we cut out an explosive shape - keeping the outside frame which we stuck down on our pillowcases. Then we chose an "explosive" word (or just a word we liked) that we drew onto the inside shape and cut it out- bam, boom, kaplop, hi! This we stuck inside our shape. Then carefully we brushed our textile ink onto the pillowcase inside our shapes and ontop of the words. The hardest bit....waiting for it to dry!!!
Leo and I made a white on black as a trial - this combo works well too.
What you will need to make your own:
1 x pillowcase
500 x 300mm piece of coverseal
Permanent marker (for drawing on coverseal)
